Usher in remake of “The Big Chill”

Sony Screen Gems announced a couple of months ago a remake of the 1983 film The Big Chill starring Usher. For those who remember, The Big Chill is about a group of seven former college friends who gather for a weekend reunion at
a posh South Carolina winter house after the funeral of one of their
friends. Sony had the brilliant idea of casting a bunch of African-American actors (Usher, Regina King, Boris Kodjoe) and turning the remake into an urban film. Usher was all for this film especially after the dismal performance his last project In The Mix.

Although the writer of the original film was on board and Regina King as producer, it now looks like this project will be on hiatus. No official script is in and with the current writers strike it could be awhile until a script gets done. Usher currently has no other film projects in the works. This would be a perfect time for him to star in a "urban" remake of The Goonies. Usher could play Mikey, Method Man could play Mouth, Sean Kingston could play Chunk and Jermaine Dupri could play the little Asian dude Data "Slick shoes!" That’s a hit right there.
