?uestlove to star with John Legend in “Soul Men”

?uestlove, the famed drummer of The Roots has confirmed that he will have a role in the upcoming Samuel L. Jackson and Bernie Mac film Soul Men which as we reported last week will also star John Legend. In an interview with IndyWeek.com ?uestlove states "I am working on a film project, and it’ll be starring Sam Jackson and Bernie Mac. It’s a musical film by Malcolm Lee (The Best Man, Roll Bounce). Since it’s a musical film, I won’t be straying too far afield in terms of my role."

Although he does not get into specifics of his role, WoooHah.com can exclusively reveal that ?uestlove plays, you guessed it, a drummer and band member of the music group that Jackson, Legend and Mac’s characters were all once part of. Soul Men comes out in theaters October 10, 2008. Props to Clyde for the heads up.

John Legend makes his big screen debut as he joins the cast of Soul Men alongside Samuel L. Jackson, Bernie Mac and everyone’s favorite "South Park" chef Isaac Hayes. Soul Men, not the sequel to Soul Plane,  is about two former
bandmates (Jackson and Mac) forced to reunite when a third member
(Legend) passes away. The pair fight with each other all the way
across the country when they’re forced to take a road trip together
for a reunion concert. Soul Men is directed by Malcolm D. Lee (Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins) and will be in theaters on October 10, 2008.
